Pediatric Interim Care Center
Kent, WA
The Pediatric Interim Care Center (PICC) is a newborn nursery dedicated to the specialized 24-hour care of drug-exposed and medically fragile infants. |
The only facility of its kind serving communities throughout Washington State, the new PICC facility now has the capacity to care for twice as many of these innocent victims of substance abuse; up to as many as 27 babies. |
The facility includes offices, conference rooms, laundry room, kitchen facilities, a state-of-the-art generator, bullet proof glass in the main entry, security camera's throughout the building, a fireplace, family meeting and counseling rooms, and unique windows that can open in two different directions which came all the way from Poland. |
PICC brings babies safely through withdrawal from drugs, including heroin, cocaine, methamphetamines, methadone, and prescription drugs. The pioneering program also facilitates visitation for families, provides caregiver training, follows the babies after they leave, and offers a range of community outreach and education services. |
More than 8,000 infants born in Washington State each year have been prenatally exposed to illicit drugs. Many of these little ones suffer serious effects and need the help that only PICC provides. Donovan Brothers is proud to be an integral part in building this unique and beautiful facility. It combines the high technology and security necessary to run such a facility with all the comforts and calm of a home - all features that are crucial to their success. |
